This is the question of the day:
Why is our faith so small when our God is so B I G?
Doubt, anxieties, fear, feelings of insignificance…these are just a few reasons why we often think that there is no way that the Lord will answer that prayer, let alone see us or realize what we are going through.
These are LIES from the pit of hell! Our heavenly Father has loved us for so long, that He knew of each of us centuries ago. He is omniscient. He knows all and sees all. So why would we believe anything that Satan says to us? He is, after all, one whom God created but got cast out of heaven because of his pride.
The devil is a desperate creature. He knows his time is short, so he is busy going after our weakest link, and that is our faith in an invisible God. But think about it: an invisible devil is trying to blind us to an invisible God!
The truth is, God is evident in everything around us. From the sun, the moon and the stars, the trees growing toward the sun, the water ebbing and flowing due to gravity, our DNA being unique to each of us, our hearts beating from when we are just a few weeks old, our fingerprints each being unique, our bodies breathing oxygen, our planet being perfectly aligned with the sun – not too cold or too hot – all of these things point to a very personal and wise Creator. He has given each of us his breath of life, so why would we doubt or feel insignificant knowing these things?
“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”
Hebrews 11:1
Think about this verse. Faith is: confidence and assurance. Yes, in spite of not seeing God with our physical eyes, we have so much other evidence that we can be confident and assured of Him being our real Heavenly Father who is the One we can count on, for anything and everything.
The fact is, for a believer in the risen Jesus,
“For we live by faith, not by sight.”
2 Corinthians 5:7
If we believe in Him even when we do not physically see Him, then we can also believe in what He can and will do for us. They go hand in hand. Why stop with just believing IN Him – move past that and trust that He hears you, loves you, and has a plan for you! Believe He can and will do BIG things for you and through you!
When you have that peace that surpasses man’s normal understanding, and you have that confidence that you are known and loved by the Almighty Himself, then you will fully and completely trust God in ALL things, no matter how small or insignificant, or how massive and unsurmountable things may seem. Your faith will deepen like roots of a tree by a stream.
Then your heart AND mind will have the faith that no matter how your situation turns out, God is in control, and you are smack dab in the middle of His will.
Believe…He IS a BIG God with a big heart for those that put Him first.
Then, when it is all said and done, you can say,
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
2 Timothy 4:7
Food for thought: What holds you back from fully trusting the Lord in ALL things? Why is your faith small? Has He let you down, or was it someone else that is fallible and imperfect? Remember, Jesus said we need to have the faith of a child in spiritual matters.
Fun facts: Our faith is like the wind – we cannot see the wind, but we see what it’s actions do, like sway the trees and blow through our hair. So let’s put our faith into action like the wind. Then others will see what the Lord does as a result of our active faith!
